Originally from California, Georgia moved to Australia in 1984 with her husband to develop a Cotton Farm an hour west of Moree. While living in the Bush, Georgia painted as a creative outlet and a way to cope with the isolation and loneliness of a new lifestyle in a strange but fascinating new country.
Since 1995, Georgia, her husband and their three boys live in Mudgee, NSW. They put in a 200 acre vineyard and enjoy the country lifestyle and natural beauty of the gorgeous wine growing region. The artist’s work is a reflection of her emotional response to the world around her, painting subjects in an expressive manner.
Having completed a Bachelor of Arts in Communication at California State University Sacramento, Georgia feels painting is an interesting way to communicate with others on many different levels. Georgia’s paintings are diverse in subject matter as well as technique, often displaying her risk-taking, adventurous nature. Collectors are always interested in what the artist is experimenting with lately and look forward to her next step in the creative journey.
Georgia plays an active role in the Cultural Community and has been a member of the Mudgee ADFAS (Australian Decorative and Fine Arts) steering committee, Mudgee Arts Council Committee, Chairperson of Visual Arts and has been on the Board of ArtsOutWest.
Georgia spends one month per year at Hamilton Island, Great Barrier Reef as Artist in Residence (2006, 2007, 2008,2009) where she exhibits her work and teaches classes. She loves traveling and sharing her passion for painting with others, helping them to discover their own creativity. Georgia is a popular instructor around the country, teaching in Inverell, Katherine, Dubbo, Orange and Mudgee as well as overseas workshops in Tuscany and Greece.
