ACRYLICS

I primarily use Golden Acrylics for their incredibly rich pure pigments and amazing versatility ~ including Fluids, Heavy Body and Opens depending on the situation and which particular techniques and effects are needed. When painting with Liquids, I like to thin them down with water and use them in the same way you would paint watercolour. The only disadvantage is that they don't lift like a watercolour paint will.
I use the Heavy Body paint when layering and get fast results, especially to create impasto texture, capitalizing on the fast drying nature of the paint. Painting en Plein air (outdoors) I use the OPEN range of paint ~ it stays wet and workable for days and can keep it in an airtight container with a wet sponge to keep the moisture in my palette for weeks at a time. It is my favourite paint to travel with and does not need turps, medium or other chemicals and all washes up with water! Too easy.
