I use MDF or Masonite boards and seal them completely with black outdoor paint to make them impermeable to moisture.   I draw on my image with a white pencil and then paint the image with copper and iron paint.   I use two different solutions of hydrochloric acid in layers to create the aged verdi gris or rusty patina, pushing it layer by layer to the desired outcome.

These pieces are fun and interesting to see them develop before you, as you never know exactly how they will turn out!
